The Wireline Operator has a thorough understanding of wireline operations including downhole and surface tools, pumps, power pack, pressure control equipment, wellheads, etc.
- Rigs up lubricator, tool strings, and pumps, for a safe and efficient operation.
- Maintains and inspects equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear and makes or recommends appropriate repairs.
- Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks.
- Able to change out wireline retrievable gas lift valves, set and retrieve plugs, cut paraffin, make tag runs, run bottom hole pressure tools, fish out wireline tools, bail fill, broach out scale, etc.
- Able to conduct wireline operations on workover or drilling rigs as needed.
- Communicates effectively with foremen, wellsite supervisors, and engineers.
- Monitors wells as necessary and records pressures, rate and fluid samples.
- Understands lift boat operations and able to instruct boat captain on how to position boat.
- Ensures contract lift boat operates safely and in an environmental friendly manner.
- Completes daily reports and sends them in to the main office.
- Implements company’s “Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan” (SPCC), as needed.
- Implements and adheres to all company safety policies and procedures and adheres to company’s “Good House-Keeping Rules.”
- Reports leaks or defective valves and equipment to foremen or engineer.
- Tightens connections with wrenches, and greases and oils valves using grease gun or other appropriate equipment.
- Supervises minor construction jobs which may include making lifts with the crane located on the lift boat.

- Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a slickline/wireline operator.
- Ability to work established work schedule.
- Ability to work unsupervised while performing essential job responsibilities.
- Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding production facilities.
- Anticipates potential problems that may occur during wireline operations and plans operations accordingly.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate a wireline unit and associated equipment unsupervised, while maintaining the equipment in a safe, environmentally sound condition while maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
- Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees or contractors of equal or lower rank and/or experience.
- Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist on a well, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
- Basic mathematical and mechanical skills.

Education:
- Preferred: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent or have any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability, and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
